Before you beat a path to the nearest open house, educate yourself on the homebuying process.1. Buy less home than you can afford. “Just because we might be able to qualify you for it, doesn’t mean you should go for the max,” the loan officer says. Leave slack for retirement and college savings. Rather than what you want, consider what, realistically, you need: “We, as Americans, got a little bit egregious as to how much house do you get,” he says. “The reality is, you got there and you only needed half of it.2. Think ahead. Since prices are still dropping, be prepared to stay in your new home at least five years. When prices recover, you should at least break even when you sell. Forget about making a fortune on a home. Those days are probably over for a while. And, if your family is growing, get a home big enough to meet your needs five years out rather than going for granite countertops and high-end upgrades now.3. Stash the credit. If you don’t need the tax credit for a down payment, use it to pay down consumer debt, to start a college fund for your kids or to fatten your retirement account.
Working out comfortablyThe most important thing is to get back into fitness gradually. Start by investing in a good sports bra. While it’s safe to exercise when nursing, you should avoid exercises that make your breasts feel sore–it also helps to work out after feeding your baby when your breasts are less full. You also need to adapt your fitness regimen to the changes your body went through during pregnancy, says Grace. If you’re experiencing incontinence or pain following an episiotomy, pelvic floor exercises will help and you can begin doing them right away. But you should ease back into abdominal exercises, especially if your doctor has told you that you have diastasis recti (a separation between the left and right side of the rectus abdominis muscle, which covers the front surface of the belly area). Head lifts are a gentle ab exercise to start with:
Staying motivatedIf you can’t find an organized post-natal class near you, start your own stroller fit group or rent a post-natal DVD and do it with a friend. “It really helps keep you motivated if you can get out and meet other mums,” says Grace. “You’ll also feel more comfortable about your post-partum weight because everyone’s in the same boat.”And if you can exercise with your baby, all the better. “Incorporate fitness into your daily routine and make it part of the time spent with your baby,” she says. Whether it’s baby yoga, aqua fitness, or just dancing around the house with your infant in a carrier, try doing something different every week to help you stay on track. “Variety is the key to sticking with it,” Grace says. “After that, just be patient and give your body a chance.”

Let’s say that you can’t even see your living room floor anymore because of the clutter. Also, let’s pretend that you haven’t dusted or vacuumed that room in months. What do you do? Well, the fast way to clean the room is with the empty method.
The first step of the empty formula is to get three large boxes or bins and place them in a dissimilar room in the house that is as easy to passage as inherent from the room that you’re cleaning. One bin will be for items that you’re keeping. One will be for items that you’re throwing out. The third can be for items that you’d like to do something dissimilar with, such as yard sale or donate.
Clean HouseNow, begin taking all out of the room and, as you do, put it in the standard bin in the other room. It shouldn’t take long to dump things in the bins. If you’re debating something, put it in the keep bin for the moment.
Once all small is out of the room, take the time to dust all and, if necessary, wash the walls and surfaces. Be as standard as inherent because you don’t want to have to do this again too soon.
After that’s done, get out your vacuum and floor covering shampooer, or broom and mop if you have a wood floor, and start cleaning the floor. Wait for the floor covering or floor to dry, if applicable. Then, start to put all in the keep bin back into the room, production sure to clean each item and find a home for it before you return it. That way, your whole room will be clean and clutter free.
Cleaning House – Use the Empty recipe to Clean a Room Fast

Up to now, once-a-year cleaning chores had been carried out in the spring. Through the years, I have gradually shifted many of these to the fall. It simply makes more sense.
For those who have family or friends over for Thanksgiving or winter holidays, fall is the ideal time to accomplish these things. It’s going to ensure you have a cleaner home and don’t wind up putting things off until the last minute. It makes all the holiday seasons a lot less nerve-racking!
Clean HouseThe Three Big Fall Jobs
Clean The Carpets
According to floor covering business experts, you should have the carpets professionally cleaned every 6-18 months depending on the traffic in your home. If you do it once a year, fall is the ideal time. Your carpets are going to be beautiful for holiday family get-togethers and parties. The majority of floor covering cleaning businesses offer a extra deal in which they will come back and deal with any stain within so many months of cleaning. If you clean in the fall and one of the kids splatters cranberry sauce on the floor covering at Thanksgiving, you are covered. You should also allow them to professionally vacuum the floor covering prior to cleaning. They are able to eliminate much more dirt than your vacuum can.
Clean The Attic
As soon as the weather cools down, it’s certainly the best time to get up in the attic and get rid of the dust and mildew! All you need to do is take a vacuum up to the attic, begin with the ceilings, and work your way down. If you have never been in the attic or simply don’t want to do this task yourself (some attics involve some unsafe maneuvering), it is inherent to hire person to do it for you. The benefit is you will growth the ability of air inside the entire house. In addition, you will also have a fully clean place for storage. Make sure to use a dust mask and protective eyeglasses, especially if you have never cleaned your attic. You will furnish a lot of particle clouds floating colse to up there! Look for damp places caused by roof leaks.
Clean The Chandeliers And Light Fixtures
The starting of fall is the best time to clean up chandeliers, light globes, and light diffusers. Maybe you are going to have population over for the holidays, and let’s face it – that is the one time you see exactly how filthy your lights are! The easiest method to clean a chandelier is to leave it where it is. Taking apart the chandelier creates a much bigger job, and you may not know how to put it all back together again! Get yourself a step stool or a ladder and clean using a damp cloth. An further method is by using two cotton gloves – one sprayed with window cleaner and one dry.
After that you should tackle the light globes on ceiling fans along with other fixtures. You should do a room at a time. Cut off the globes determined and allow them to soak while you’re cleaning the room. Rinse and wipe them clean and replace them after. It isn’t hard, but most of us have a lot of light fixtures. You are going to observation a change in lighting immediately. Don’t forget the porch lights!
Additional Fall Cleaning Jobs
Draperies
Read the labeling on your drapes. If they’re engine washable, wash them on polite cycle with Woolite or any other polite detergent and let them hang dry. If they are dry clean only, don’t take any chances, bring them in to be cleaned.
Oven and Range
You most likely do this when needed, however this is an perfect time for you to do a thorough oven cleaning, particularly if you cook and bake a lot Through the holidays. Use a spray cleaner and let it sit overnight. Wipe clean in the morning. starting with a clean oven will make it much easier to wipe the oven clean the day after Thanksgiving. Remember to take off the range and oven knobs and dials and let them soak in soapy dishwater.
Refrigerator and Freezer
This is the time to do a thorough job where you take all things out and clean the shelves and drawers. It won’t take long adequate to worry about any food spoiling if you just get in there and do it! Use an antibacterial household cleaner and wipe down the shelves. Take the drawers out and wash them in the kitchen sink. When you’re done with these two tasks, take all things out of the freezer and put to one side of the sink. Use the same antibacterial cleaner to wipe down all surfaces. If you have ice cube trays, wash them in the top shelf of the dishwasher or let them soak in the sink.
Polish Silver
Many population just use their good silver colse to the holiday seasons, so this will be the ideal time to polish and shine silver serving pieces and tarnished silver flatware.
Furniture and Rugs
Move large furnishings and mop or vacuum underneath them. This singular task only has to be done once a year, so don’t break your back doing this more frequently.
Turn over area rugs and vacuum the backside. This will help get any dirt and grime that is hiding at the base of the rug fibers. Never beat an area rug to clean it. This can break down the rug backing and fibers.
Gutters
Of course, fall is the time of year your gutters get packed with leaves. Clean them with a extra hose attachment that has a hooked end to get down into the gutters. Good yet, look into attaching “hoods” or “helmets” to the gutters so you won’t have to worry as much about leaves in the future!
Fall House Cleaning Tips

Was one of your New Year resolutions to cut down on waste and to live more sustainably? These quick tips should help.
1. Make your own household cleaners using natural ingredients. Not only does this mean that you will be less exposed to some of the most coarse sources of household pollutants and toxins, you will also cut down on the amount of waste your household produces (you won’t have to buy and dispose of one product for cleaning windows, one for cleaning floors, one for cleaning the bathroom, one for cleaning kitchens, etc, etc. Ad nauseam) and you will also be easier on the environment, as producing house cleaners like vinegar, baking soda and soap is less polluting and often uses by-products of other industries.
Clean House2. Dry your clothes plainly using the sun and the air. A good washing line or clothes horse gets clothes beautifully dry, whether you dry clothes exterior or just stand the clothes horse near a home heating source. This not only means that you’re using less electricity to power a dryer, but you will also cut down on the need for anti-static products and you may even be able to get away with doing less ironing.
3. Learn how to mend and make do. It’s silly to throw away a shirt or pair of jeans just because it’s got a falling hem or a split seam – or even a hole worn in the knees. These are easy mending jobs, and sewing by hand is a soothing task that’s good to do while watching Tv or sitting down to talk – and it can help keep your hands busy so you don’t go reaching for a snack or a cigarette.
4. Reconsider switching to more environmentally cordial brands, such as Ecover, for home cleaning products that you can’t or don’t want to make yourself. For me, this would be laundry and dishwashing detergent.
5. Start a recycling system. It’s good to have a transportable holder for putting recyclables because then you can go nearby your house as you clean up and put things straight where they’re supposed to go.
6. Switch to reusable shopping bags as much as you can. This means that you won’t have half a million cluttering your drawers up. However, you may still need a few, as you will need to make sure meat doesn’t drip all over all else – and old shopping bags are great for corralling rubbish and recyclable paper (and many shopping bags are themselves recyclable).
7. Find an alternative to retail therapy. Not only will you save money, you will also save on packaging and then filling your house with things that you have to clean and care for. Take up someone else soothing hobby instead.
8. Get some pot plants for your home. Not only will these help clean the air in your home (especially if you buy plants that absorb and eliminate toxins such as spider plants and peace lilies) but you will also help -albeit a little bit – sacrifice the uncut Co2 in the atmosphere. Every little bit counts!
9. Start a garden. It’s good practice for you, it makes you more aware of the environment, it encourages you to compost food and other organic waste (which includes the bits from your vacuum cleaner bag – beans love these!) and you can eat the results. Composting makes your house smell nicer, as you don’t have food waste sitting nearby in the bin stinking.
10. Cut down on waste by looking new uses for old items. Old towels, shirts and sheets can be used as cleaning rags. Old toothbrushes can be used for all sorts of house cleaning jobs. Old packaging can be used to store home-made cleaning products. Thin little soap scraps can be melted down to make soap gel (used for all sorts of cleaning jobs).
Ten Ways to Make the Way You Clean House More Sustainable

If you’re about to start building a chicken house, there are some important tips to keep in mind. Rather than taking a roundabout approach to building a chicken house, it’s a good idea to come up with a solid plan for both how the house will be designed and the steps you will take to arrive at the finished product. Failure to do so will potentially leave you feeling confused, frustrated and may even cause you to waste money.
Here is your tip sheet.
Home TipsSize Matters
If you don’t know how many chickens you plan to keep, opt for a large house if you have room. It’s always better to have more room than less when it comes to raising chickens. True, large houses will require more work on your part, but you’ll also get better results. The worst would be building a house that is too small and then finding you have to rebuild it later on down the road.
Think Other Animals
While you are obviously focused on making your chickens happy, one significant factor in their happiness is that they feel safe. If you have predatory animals running around, how safe are your chickens going to feel? Not very. Make sure you consider a heavy duty cage around the house if you’ve got these concerns.
Get The Feeder Right
If you don’t position the feed right while you’re building a chicken house, your birds are going to make a mess while eating or will feel incredibly strained to just get at the food. Make sure you take this into consideration.
You want the feeder in the chicken house to be at about their back level, as this is what will allow them the most ease at getting to that food.
Consider Your Budget
Finally, don’t forget to consider your budget when building your chicken house. You don’t necessarily have to spend a great deal of money on the house provided it is well made and accomplishes your goals.
Look into the different building supplies out there and be sure the ones you are choosing will meet your budget and purposes.
So, use this tip sheet as you plan on building a chicken house Don’t overlook any of these factors and you can be sure you’ll build something you can be happy with.
Building a Chicken House – Tips

Buying your own house is a multifaceted process that can easily overwhelm the average person. The important thing to remember is to not try to work on too many tasks at one time, and just work on completing lists of tasks as you go through the process. I speak from experience as having purchased my first house with my wife in 2006. Here are five suggestions I can offer you that I used in my house purchase experience.
1) Determine your Credit Rating:
Home TipsYou can’t control the rise and fall of interest rates, but you can control how your credit rating affects the interest rate you are able to get for your mortgage. This should be one of the very first things you do in your house hunt. In fact, when you begin speaking with a mortgage company this is typically one of the first items they determine about you. Keeping up to date with your FICO credit score is not difficult, and it is possible to get a free copy of your credit report.
2) Determine the amount of your monthly note:
This is not an easy item to obtain before you actually close on your house. You really owe it to yourself (no pun intended) to get at least a ballpark figure of what your monthly mortgage payment will be. Keep in mind, that even though you know the asking price of your house, the mortgage payment will also include insurance and taxes. Knowing at least a close estimate of your mortgage payment will help you a lot in figuring your budget.
3) Search for Insurance prices:
Whatever you do, don’t avoid investigating the insurance prices and coverage options for your house. You have multiple options, depending on the area you live in. The price you will pay depends on several factors like your credit score, the value of the property and how much coverage you want. Insurance costs also include mortgage insurance, or PMI. Mortgage insurance does you no good, but a mortgage company will usually require it if the amount of money you have invested is below a certain percentage of the house value.
4) Find out the kind of neighborhood in which the house is located:
Sure, the house looks great – but in what kind of neighborhood is it located? Your best bet is to hit the street and talk to people who live next door and on the same block. Remember, they have nothing to lose by telling you something bad about the neighborhood. You can ask the seller of the house, but keep in mind they are motivated to sell you the house and they might paint a rosier picture than reality.
5) Investigate if there have been any natural disaster claims on the house:
Concealing damage from disasters is sadly not too complicated to do. Again, you can ask the seller about claims but a sure method here is to do some title investigation (possibly at your local county’s assessor’s office) to determine if any flood claims have been filed recently. Checking with the neighbors in the area is another good way to determine if any damage could have occurred to the house.
Of course, many more items can be offered as suggestions for handling a house purchase. I feel these are some of the more crucial items. In spite of the often-hectic nature of the process of purchasing a house, I can tell you from experience that a house purchase is ultimately one of the more rewarding experiences out there.
House Purchase Tips
